Electrical Installation Condition Reporting
What is an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)?
Simply put, an EICR is peace of mind – knowing that the electrical installation within your property is safe until its next check.
Who needs an EICR?
Any property which is used for commercial purposes, rented properties, properties being bought or sold, and the homeowner.
Why do I need an EICR?
Any property which is being used for working/ revenue generating has a legal obligation to ensure it is safe for its employees or customers, this includes landlords of rented properties.

Homeowners may need to prove that the electrical installation within their property is safe at the time of checking, which can be passed on to a new owner.
How long is an EICR valid for?
A new EICR is valid for 5 years, but an engineer may recommend a re-test frequency after the inspection has taken place. For example, if your electrical installation is very old, they may recommend it is tested more often. Landlords need to re-test the electrical installation with every change of tenancy, within the 5-year period.

Vital Phase UK Ltd are qualified to undertake EICRs and this is underpinned by the NICEIC Approved Contractor status.
